2017

Well, folks.  Here we are in 2017.  Firestorm is now a thing of the past and I'm happy to be disassociated from a group of back-stabbing, gutless cowards, who "fire" band members via email after going back on their word.  Not professional in the least.  Good riddance, girls.
Now in the process of working with a former band mate from years back attempting to form a working project.  We've gone through a few auditions and it seems the "fad" nowadays, is to be an "open mic" musician.  Not sure of the psychology behind this, but my experience with these "musicians" has been disappointing overall.  Thus far, not one of them know a complete song from beginning to end, other than "3-chord wonders".  Is it simply the desire to grab attention from the "adoring masses" or lack of attention to detail (see: lazy)?  Either way, not suitable for our goals or direction.  Not too many bands will make money or garner packed venues playing elementary, student-level material.  To each his own.
Jammed with a couple of guys last night who are trying to re-establish a working project of theirs and it went pretty much as I'd hoped.  Covered a significant amount of material with only minor glitches in arrangements or timing.  Hopefully, something will come of it.
I'll try not to let another year go by before the next update.

Hey, Y'all!!!
Can't believe it's been over a YEAR since I've been here.  Firestorm is in the process of revamping our program.  JD, our other guitarist, has decided to leave the band.  I wish him well in his future pursuits and want to thank him for the opportunity to work together for the past 1+ years in the best band yet!
Guess we're gonna' try 4 piece for a bit to see how things shake out.
Will try to be back soon to keep you updated on things.
Rock the music!

Firestorm Rocks!!

Can't believe it's been sooo long since I've been here, so here's an update.  Equinox has run it's course and I've spent some time working on a country project which never really got off the ground.  I'm now involved with an existing band known as Firestorm.  I really feel that I'm "home" now.  JM, JD, Randy, and Doc are all accomplished musicians who share my taste in classic and modern rock.   they're also very easy to work with because of their talent.  No one in this band needs musical instructions in order to accomplish the end result which is good music done correctly.  Please visit our website:  www.firestormrocks.com

Boneshakers

Getting ready to do another show with "Boneshakers" at the Hanover Moose tomorrow night. Looking forward to rockin' the night away with "Equinox" as well. A special "thanks" to John, Jim, and Mac for inviting me to join them for an evening of musical mayhem and fun. Also, a big "thank you" for giving "Equinox" the opportunity to participate in the raucous, rock and roll revelry. Promises to be an evening of great music and partying!!!!

Can't believe it's been over six months since I've been here. Since then, I've separated, reconciled, lost my kids to their c**t of a mother, found a new band, and have generally improved my life through all of this.

"Equinox" is the new band and it's showing alot of promise. We've got a few gigs scheduled and I've got another show in February with "Boneshakers". Purchased a new PRS and it's SWEET!

Life is good!

Update

Yes, it's been six months since I've been here. None of the projects I've been involved with have progressed beyond the "developemental" stage or gone further than where they were. Many changes occurring during that time, some good and some not so good. Things appear to be getting back on track, but as we all know, it can change in a heartbeat or the blink of an eye. All we can hope for is that none of us lose what we've gained and what we've gained has been worth it all. As suggested by someone on an earlier post, I'll attempt to incorporate images in future posts.

Peace and thanks to all.

What 4?

Not much went down in November except we did get together with Rick from "Corn Wallace" to sit in for a little while and the band really sounded great! Unfortunately, due to personal & family issues, our original bass player isn't going to be able to continue with us. We wish Rick (the original bassist) the best.
Going to get together on 12/12 to audition a couple musicians to fill the vacancy.

Wish us luck and stay tuned.....What 4?......just because.

Welcome October

Looks like a new project is in the wings. A few bandmates from "the old hometown" have decided they'd like to experience the club crowds in this area. I'm really looking forward to performing again with Mike & Rick. We all are excited at the prospect & are certain this band, based on the level of talent, is going ROCK!!!!!! The first practice is the 31st (whooo Halloween week-end). I'll let you know how it goes. Meanwhile, KEEP THE JAMS COMIN'!!

September Chaos

Well...it's finally happened. My wife has finally sold her house and we've been moving (tons of)stuff for the last three weekends. The end is in sight because we close at the end of the month. The most interesting part of this whole fiasco is going to be witnessing the defiance of the laws of physics. I've always wondered how it would be possible to fit 12 sq. ft. into 3 sq. ft. Well....she's gonna show me and as soon as I experience this, I'll pass it on to all of you.

On another note...."Sidetracked" is charging ahead, sounding better and better. Getting very close to the "demo" and PR creation. Stay tuned.........

Birthday Gig

WOW!!!
The Annville project (known that night) as Sidetracked, had a kickass show for the wife of a friend. On July 18 we really had a great time on the maiden voyage of the band. The sound was great, the beer was cold, and some of the women.......HOT!!! Wouldn't you know it? The one time I don't hang beads on my mike stand and I get not one...not two...but THREE pairs displayed!!! I can't believe Kathy missed them.

Keep On Rockin'!!!

Post Vacation

Well, it's back to the "body shop" this week and things at work are status quo. The first day back, I had alot of stuff to get caught up on that (naturally) wasn't done while I was off. Had a good vacation though and looking forward to the next one which is scheduled for the second week in August.

The other project dubbed "Sidetracked" last evening has it's first show this weekend. A private party, but weather permitting looks to be a fun time.
Rock On!!!

Busy Month

Well folks, it's been an interesting month. I discovered that the guys in my (former) band, Mixed Breed, are not the people I thought. They went behind my back (like the cowards they obviously are) and without any discussion or notification, fired my ass! What's worse, my little girl was supposed to sing with the band July 4th. You'd have thought they would have at least had the decency to let her perform before firing me. They NEVER approached me or indicated there were any problems whatsoever. I guess no matter how well you treat people, there are always classless, no dignity, backstabbing, immature, ignorant a--holes wherever you go. They kept me long enough to get booked into a few classier, better paying clubs. I have a suspicion that once they play these places whithout me and the club realizes they didn't get the band they thought they were getting, Mixed Breed is screwed for future gigs there. I guess I can handle the fact of what these people are, but you break my daughter's heart.....our day will come.
"When God closes a door, he opens a window." ...... Don't know who said it, but I believe it's true. This may be my next opportunity to find a really fantastic band!

And the answer is.......

The answer to the "Who said it?" question is:
Ian St. Ian, a frequent guest of radio's popular "Bob & Tom Show".............................you wankers.

Music

What's the most popular portable music device?
Is it the Walkman (the one I can afford), the iPod, or some other brand?
What do you have?

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Who said it?

"If you're not using Gibson or Marshall....you're a wanker!!"

If no one gets it by 6/5/09, I'll reveal the answer....and you'll be a ......

DigiTech RP 500

Let's hear some thoughts on this effects unit. Anyone have some "tips" that aren't in the manual?
